Author Guidelines
Author Guidelines
1. General Requirements
Manuscripts submitted for publication must meet the following conditions:
- The manuscript is an original work of research, review, or conceptual analysis that has not been previously published and is not under consideration by any other journal or publication (if a related version exists, this must be disclosed in the Comments to the Editor).
- Manuscript length: 3,000–6,000 words, excluding references and appendices.
- Line spacing: 1.5 lines throughout the body text (tables and figure captions may be single-spaced; see Section 6).
- Font: Calisto MT, 11 pt, justified alignment, italics used for emphasis and foreign/Arabic terms (not underlining, except for URLs).
- Page size: A4 (210 × 297 mm), with 2.5 cm margins on all sides (top, bottom, left, right).
- Page numbers must appear in the footer of every page.
- Impersonal academic style is required; avoid first-person pronouns (e.g., "I," "we") except where methodologically necessary (e.g., describing the authors' own fieldwork).
- Spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and transliteration must be consistent throughout the article.
- Arabic terms must be transliterated according to the journal's official transliteration guideline (template available for download).
2. Manuscript Structure
Manuscripts (except review articles) must follow this sequence:
- Title
- Author name(s) (no academic titles)
- Author affiliation(s)
- Corresponding e-mail address
- Abstract (English and Indonesian)
- Keywords
- Introduction (including method)
- Discussion
- Conclusion
- Acknowledgements (optional)
- References
3. Title, Author Names, and Affiliations
Title
- Should precisely reflect the specific focus and scope of the study; a main title with an explanatory subtitle is acceptable.
- Format: 14 pt, centered, 0 pt spacing above, 14 pt spacing below.
Author name(s) and affiliation(s)
- Provide full names without academic titles or positions (e.g., no "Prof.," "Dr.").
- Do not abbreviate family/last names.
- Each author's institutional affiliation must be stated in full (institution, city, country).
- At least one author must be designated as corresponding author, with a verifiable institutional e-mail address.
- Authors are strongly encouraged to provide their ORCID iD.
- Format: 11 pt, 11 pt spacing above and below for author names; 11 pt for affiliations.
4. Abstract and Keywords
- Length: 150–250 words, written as a single paragraph.
- Must concisely state: Research Background, method, key findings, contribution and conclusion — written to function as a standalone summary for indexing databases.
- Avoid uncommon abbreviations, citations, and footnotes within the abstract.
- Provide 3–5 keywords, separated by semicolons (;), reflecting the core content of the article for indexing and search purposes.
-
Each manuscript must include an abstract written in:
- English (mandatory)
- Indonesian (for manuscripts written in Indonesian)
5. Body Sections
Introduction
The Introduction should:
- consist of four structured paragraphs following the sequence above;
- demonstrate the significance of the research problem through empirical evidence;
- critically review previous studies instead of merely describing them;
- identify a clear research gap supported by the literature;
- explicitly state the novelty and contribution of the study;
- conclude with a clear research objective and argument or hypothesis.
- The Research Method section should provide a clear, systematic, and reproducible description of how the study was conducted. Authors should explain what was studied, why a particular research design was selected, how the data were collected, and how the data were analyzed.
Discussion
- Present findings and interpret them against the objectives and existing literature.
- Discussion should engage critically with prior research rather than merely restating results.
Conclusion
- Directly answer the stated research objective(s)/question(s).
- Should articulate the study's theoretical or practical contribution.
- Must not repeat the abstract verbatim or simply list findings without synthesis.
6. Tables, Figures, and Diagrams
- Tables are numbered sequentially, with the table number and title placed above the table.
- Tables should be centered on the page/column, followed by an 11 pt line space.
- Table content is single-spaced (double-spacing permitted only to indicate data groupings).
- Table headings: 10 pt, bold.
- Only horizontal rules are used in tables; vertical lines should not appear.
- All tables and figures must be referenced in-text by number (e.g., "Table 1," "Figure 2") and placed at the appropriate point in the text — not collected at the end of the manuscript.
- Figures must be submitted in JPG or PNG format, at a resolution sufficient for print (minimum 300 dpi recommended).
7. Citation and Referencing Style
Averroes uses the American Sociological Association (ASA) 7th Edition citation style.
